HairWorld on PBS

If you've never heard of the Hair Olympics, you're not alone. Admittedly, I didn't either until I met Dale Dees.

The man I personally trust my tresses to was a former performer who found his calling backstage when fellow performers noticed his uncanny ability to cut and style hair. Over the last 12 years, Dale has dedicated himself to perfecting and expanding his career through National and International competition.

Since 2002, Dale has taken first place each time in the National Cosmetology Association’s Up-Do competition and also placed first in the International Professional Lady’s Full Fashion competition. The Hair World Championships, dubbed the "Hair Olympics" now serve as his new stage.

Dale's quest for excellence led him to Moscow in 2006, where he and Team US garnered their first medal. Acclaimed Documentary Filmmaker Mark Lewis followed the United States Hair Styling Team during their training and through competition. HAIRWORLD: THE PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE documents the National Cosmetology Association’s (NCA) Team USA as its members clip, comb and spray their way to the 31st HairWorld Championships in Moscow, Russia, where 800 stylists from 50 countries compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in timed tests of styling skill. The program airs Wednesday, July 25, 2007, 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET on PBS (check local listings as air times vary by market).

Tune in Wednesday to watch the story unfold and stay tuned to making headlines, as Dale has qualified once again for the US Team's quest for the gold in 2008.
